Dorothy Margaret Carruthers (Hern)

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother, Dorothy on Friday April 7, 2017 at the age of 92.
Dorothy was born August 13, 1924 in the Alva District.She attended Alva School until grade 8 then high school in Togo and Business College in Winnipeg.She married George Carruthers on October 30,1947. George and Dorothy’s parents homesteaded side by side in the Alva District.They purchased the Alfred Carruthers farm in 1950 and farmed until they retired to Togo in 1981.She enjoyed the farm life and helped wherever she was needed, inside the home and out.She loved horseback riding and dancing.

Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, Isabel and Samuel Hern; her brother Phil(Jean); sister Marj (George) and Sharon; husband George.

She is survived by two daughters; Jean (Victor) Shabatoski and grandchildren Christy (Len), Justin (Shawna); Grace Rauckman and grandchildren Christina (James/Brandon) and Mike (Aimee) and great grandson Thomas.

A private family service was held at  the Togo and District Cemetery..

If friends so desire donation’s in Dorothy’s memory may be made to the Diabetes Association.
