Eileen Ross Obituary

Eileen Ross passed away at the age of 76 years on January 9, 2019 at the Kamsack Hospital.

A wake was held on Friday, January 11, 2019  pm from the Chief Gabriel Cote Educational Complex.

A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 12, 2019  also from the Chief Gabriel Cote Educational Complex.

Interment  followed at the Elizabeth Gardens Cemetery.

Eileen Ross was born November 21,1942 on the Cote First Nation to Elizabeth and Peter Tourangeau.

Eileen received her education at St Phillips and Lebret residential schools. Once achieving her grade 10 in 1961 she moved to Regina. There she met her future husband Bernie Ross. On December 2, 1972 they were married. They were married for 23 years.

Eileen was employed by The Regina Friendship Centre where she worked for many years helping families in the Regina area delivering food hampers and clothing to families.  Providing them with social and work skills. Which lead to her going back to University to study Indigenous Studies and Sociology. While working in Regina she met three of her life-long friends Yvonne and Charlie Pratt and Ivy Kennedy who will miss her dearly.

She had many hobbies, three of them was macramé, knitting, and pottery. After making enough pot hangers for flowers she’d then pass them on to other family members.  While living in Regina she and her husband Bernie would spend time at the race track when dad and her brothers and sisters would be horse racing.

They had two children Terri and Ryan.  Later on her niece Landis went to live with them in Regina at a young age. Throughout the years they took family vacations every summer to western Canada and to the States. On some of these vacations they would invite her mom or sisters along to enjoy their company.

One of her greatest joys was when her daughter Terri married Daryl Lacquette, which meant grandchildren. First to come along was Michael-Ryan who was spoiled rotten by her and Bernie. They gave him the name of Mookes.  Joy arrived again on the birth of their second grandson, Tyler.  There was never a shortage of love for these two boys.

A few years ago, Terri and Daryl brought two more grandchildren to her family Ashawntai and Jose. This gave Eileen another chance to spoil her grandchildren again.

Three years ago, Eileen was truly blessed with her first Great Grandson Ryan Lacquette.

Eileen was predeceased by her son Ryan, husband Bernie, parents Elizabeth and Peter, brothers Peter and Joseph, sisters Genevieve, Mary and Judy, niece Debbie, and nephew Peter.

She survived by daughter Terri, son in law Daryl, Landis (Justin), Ashawntai, grandsons Michael-Ryan (Regean) Tyler and Jose, great grandson Ryan, brothers and sisters, Melba, George (Cora), Charles (Irin) Rita (Alvin), Theresa, Mike (Sandra), Joann (Danny), Tommy, Anita (Chick), Bernie (Alley), Karen, Sara, Jeanette (Rocky), Benny, and Joe.  As well as numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
