Thomas Clarence Brown

On Wednesday, October 23, 2019, Tom Clarence Brown passed away peacefully at the age of 91 at the Norquay Health Centre.

A Memorial Service was held on Wed Oct 30, 2019 from the Pelly Community Centre.

Interment followed at the Maloneck Cemetery.

Tom was born on October 25, 1927 on the family farm near Alida, SK to Mabel and Gordon Brown.

In August of 1934 at the age of seven, Tom along with his mom, dad, six brothers and two sisters relocated to Pelly, SK. They brought a herd of cattle, some chickens, a team of horses, a caboose and some family possessions.

Tom started school in Alida, SK and then continued in Sunny-Isle school north of Pelly, SK. He finished his education in Pelly, SK.

He was dedicated to many things but something he was most proud of was being an instructor for the 4H club. During his almost 50 years of service he received the “Garden of Saskatchewan” 1991 citizens award.

On October 23, 1959 he married Edna Schell at Maloneck Church. They then started farming in the Maloneck area.

Tom was a dedicated farmer until January 1991 when he suffered a debilitating stroke. After only a few months of rehabilitation he came back to the town of Pelly where he lived with his sister Cora Stobee for more than 20 years.

Tom went to live with Emily Schweigert and Zoey in Norquay, SK., where he received family like care! Finally he spent the last five years at the Norquay Nursing Home, where he reunited with many friends and neighbors.

Tom is survived by his son; Faron (Sharlene), sister; Cora Stobee and brothers; Joe and Roy (Toni), as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

Tom is predeceased by his wife; Edna, son; Grant, parents; Mabel and Gordon Brown, sisters; Mary (Allan) Doughty, Doreen (Bill) Cooke, sister -in-law; Mary Brown, brothers; Leonard (Sheila), Arthur (Emily), Garnet, Cecil, Allan and Walter.
