Alvin Musqua Obituary

With a heavy heart we sadly announce the passing of Alvin JJ Musqua III on May 24, 2026.

Alvin “JJ” Musqua was born on September 13th, 2007 at the Regina General Hospital, in Regina Sk. He was welcomed into the world, by his loving parents Alvin and Jarrin Musqua, his Kokum Lisa, his Coco Freda, twin sisters Avery and Olivia, as well as other members of his Kehler and Musqua families. He was the third member in his family to carry his grandfathers name, and although he was Alvin since birth, he was more commonly known to everyone by his childhood nickname, “JJ.” JJ grew up on his home community of the Keeseekoose First Nation, where he attended school at the Keeseekoose Chiefs Education Centre. In June of 2025, JJ received his high school diploma, graduating in the class of 2024/2025. In October of the same year, just four months after graduating, he would return to KCEC once again. This time as a staff member, working as an Education Assistant. In late January of 2026, JJ was “discovered” on Instagram, by agent and director, Kristina Derrick of Stray Model Management. A week later, in February, he would sign a two year International modeling contract and begin a new venture in modeling. JJ shot with clients and photographers in local markets like Saskatoon, as well as nationally, with clients and photographers in Montreal Quebec. Although his modeling endeavors were cut short, in the brief time that it was, JJ had struck interest with big name brands in Toronto and was scheduled to meet agents and clients, in New York, later that summer. JJ’s agent was confident he would eventually hit the international market and find work overseas, in Europe. Modeling aside, JJ was a gifted artist, who expressed himself through many art forms, whether it be sketching in his sketch pad, playing his guitar or his love for music. JJ had a particular love for Metal, one he shared with his father, Alvin JR. As a little boy he attended many concerts with his dad, right into adulthood, bonding together over their common love for the genre. Through Metal, grew JJ’s interest and love for his favorite instrument; the guitar. As a boy, he would go on to spend many hours throughout the years, learning guitar from his grandfather Alvin Sr. or as JJ often called him, “My best friend.” JJ spent many hours, learning new songs, guitar solos and even composing some of his own. He’d plug in his amp, crank up the volume and play his guitar anytime of the day and night, or as he liked to call it “shredding,” sometimes into the early morning. Most notable, was the love and value he had for family and friends. He always made time to tease and play with the family dogs Ziggy and Duke. JJ wore his heart on his sleeve and was not shy to express how he felt for the people he cared about. He never wanted his loved ones to go without and the empathy he had for others, meant he hated to see anyone hurt or down. In good or bad, JJ would always make time for others, whether it be through talks or texts. He would greet everyone with genuine enthusiasm, along with his million dollar smile. He had a great sense of humor and could light up a room, lift spirits and lighten the heaviest of moods with his quick wit humor, his famous quirky dance moves or his infectious laugh, he’d become known for. No matter the time, place or circumstances, when the visit was over, JJ would always leave you with an “I love you.” That was simply, “Jay being Jay.” JJ loved family. He enjoyed spending time with his grandparents, joking with his aunts, uncles, cousins and forming unbreakable and uniquely individual bonds with every single one of them. JJ was the lone boy in a family of three girls and he loved his sisters immensely; the twins Avery and Olivia, and of course his baby sister Zoe. He took pride in being their only brother, a role he took true to heart, wearing many hats, as their jokester, their confidante, their comforter, their razzer, and most of all, their protector. Above all else, JJ loved his parents. He spoke highly of them to others and did his best to model his life after both of them; a leader like his father and an educator like his mother. JJ expressed many times that when he had nothing, he knew he had his parents and the unconditional love and support they had for him. He wanted only to be the best son he could be, a self made goal, he not only met, but exceeded throughout his time here. JJ will be deeply missed, but fondly remembered by all who had the honor of knowing him. Take comfort in the memories made by him in the 18 years we were blessed with. JJ was truly one of a kind, a young man who loved deeply. To know JJ, was to know love.
