It is with great sadness that the family of Bryan Puk announces his passing on January 18, 2026 at the Kamsack District Nursing Home at the age of 70 years.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive, well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, cigarette in hand, a glass of wine in the other. body thoroughly used up, totally worn up and screaming "WOW" - What a joy ride!"
Recently I have left this beautiful planet and moved on to a place that is too wonderful to describe in words...so please don't fell any sympathy for me...be happy for me instead. My time on this planet were filled with every emotion imaginable but the most important one was love. I loved my family, my friends, my work as a Sociology instructor, my cars, and every girlfriend that I have ever had.
If I ever asked any one of you: "Can I get you anything?", it was not an attempt to win your friendship...it was an expression of my need to give in order to compensate for all of the blessings that I have received in my life. As I look back on my life, the moments that have meant the most to me were the ones where I have done things in the spirit of love.
I was bornin England in 1955 and moved to Canada in 1961. I attended school in various small towns throughout Saskatchewan until coming to the University of Saskatchewan in 1973 to pursue a BA degree. By the time I received the BA degree, I was addicted to University coffee and went on to receive several other degrees which explains why I ended up with a teaching position there... and then diversifying to also teach in such places as the First nations University of Canada, the University of Regina, St. Thomas More College and numerous other educational institutions. In 2001 and 2012, I was honoured to receive the "Educator of Distinction" award sponsored by the Saskatoon Preschool Foundation. Over the years, I was nominated several times for the University of Saskatchewan Student's Union Teaching Excellence Award and was elected to the Senate at the same university.
During my life here, my passions have included spending time with family and friends, teaching Sociology, trying to understand Quantum Physics, learning about Cosmology, supporting animal welfare organizations, freelance writing, spoiling my cats, and trying to find aa wife to spoil also, the latter unsuccessfully. On warm summer nights, I loved to put the top down on my Sebring convertible and drive out to the country where I would recline the seat and watch the moon and stars do their magnificent cosmic dance in the sky while Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata played on the CD player. The experience was even more enjoyable when I shared it with someone that I loved.
I would like to thank my wonderful parents; Jaroslaw and Anna, for bringing me onto this magical world. Unfortunately, the only grandchildren I could provide then with were four footed furry ones. I would also like to give thanks to my Creator for giving me my favorite brother Peter and his wonderful wife Theresa ( as well as their children; Alyssa, Michael and Larissa), and my favorite sister; Lesia, her husband Colin, and their son, Ryan and daughter Teanna. I would like to thank the Creator for all the wonderful and supportive friends and co-workers that I have had the honour of knowing and working with. I am grateful to have met the love of my life, Lisa, who has supported me and loved me through this journey even though we never physically met. I carry your love with me.
Although I am no longer amongst you, the sacred power of love can build a bridge from where I am to where you are. Occasionally I will stand on this bridge and send you uniquely beautiful butterflies just to let you know that you are still in my heart. This will be a reminder to you that we are not human beings having a spiritual experience, but rather spiritual beings having a human experience.
It ha been a pleasure sharing my life with you. Until we meet again...
