The following is the eulogy that was read at Dean funeral service:
“Today we celebrate the life of a well known young traditional man, who was proud to yell from the top of his lungs when people asked him where he was from. He'd say Keeseekoose. Music was always a big part of his life, he was a powwow singer and a karaoke sing star champion (Dean Loaf and his angels) He was a very good hockey player, who played for the Saskatoon Blades and the Kamsack Flyers. He was an all-star athlete. He was very proud to be part of the Keeseekoose Fire Fighter Crew. He was always willing to support and help his community any time, day or night. He was an awesome curler, who brought precision to the game. He was part of a drum group called the Crow Singers, which he referred to as the "boys"; he went from being called luggage to whistlevoice. There was always a lot of laughter around the fire when powwow season begin. He referred to him self as the neck bone eating champion. He was a good hunter. Whenever anyone saw him, he would have a gentle smile and a kind hello. He was part of the Kamsack Squadron 633, which he completed in 1992. He always loved his family very much, growing up in and around Kamsack. He had a great love for his home. He is a great man who will be missed. He loved to laugh, and had a way of making you smile when you where sad, as he was very humble and understanding. We are all here today, not to cry but to celebrate the life of a good man, who may of stumbled a few times, but took a leap to greater things. In saying this, I hope we all smile as well as remember the stories of this great nephew, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. Today I am honored to write this eulogy for Dean Elliot Kitchemonia (Kinewsiwanapetung). I thank you for being part of our lives for this short time, he made such huge impact an all that knew and met him. A die hard Calgary Flames fan till the end. We will all treasure the times and memories we shared. You have lived a good life and our parting was only a slight pause in time. See you in the funny papers. Love you bro. Rest in peace.”
