Dorothy Moriarty Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy Clara Moriarty on Thursday, April 30, 2020.  Doris was born May 23, 1921 in Kamsack, Saskatchewan and is predeceased by her parents Josephine and Freddy Vaughn, her first husband Arthur Disberry,  second husband Bernard Moriarty, brother Russel Grant and her daughter Aleida Jordens.

She leaves to mourn her passing her son Charles (Rita) Disberry, daughter Cindi Disberry-Evans, son-in-law Tom Jordens Senior, 8 Grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren and she was blessed to have 5 generations with 3 Great Great grandchildren.

Doris attended school in Kamsack.  After her husband Arthur passed she was left to raise her children as a single mom.  She worked at Davies Drug Store, in the kitchen at the Minisik Chalet alongside her mom Josephine and with her husband JB at “Beaners Pavilion” at the lake.

Doris was a fantastic homestyle cook, she always had a soup bone on the stove, fresh baked goods on the counter and was sure to make each person their favorite dish when they visited. She was a night owl and would sit up in bed reading or playing solitaire and spent many hours crocheting, knitting and sewing. She enjoyed socializing and visiting with her friends and the time she had to share her stories with her grandchildren.  She enjoyed curling, figure skating, and speed skating. Doris always had her hair done, lipstick on, and loved her flashy jewelry.  In her golden years her vision started to fail her, at times she couldn’t see right in front of her, but she could still spot a garage sale sign a mile away.  She liked going to thrift stores and searching for treasures. She was a woman ahead of her time with a flair for decorating and style.

She was a member of the Harmony Center choir and drama productions, the Legion, Royal Purple, and the Catholic Women’s Auxiliary.

She was a loving and caring mother and grandma and a great mother-in-law!

If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made in Dorothy's memory to the Kamsack and District Nursing Home Auxiliary.
