Elizabeth Kazakoff (Elsie)

October 28, 1912 – April 16, 2011.
Born October 28, 1912 to Wasyl and Maria Trofimenkoff in the village of Tombowka west of Runnymede. She was the third child of five children.She was educated at Little Boggy School up to grade eight. Her parents could not afford to send her to high school. She worked in Winnipeg during WW1 and then in B.C. as a waitress. She left her job to look after her parents.
Elsie never had children of her own but she enjoyed her many nieces and nephews.
In January of 1952 she married Paul M. Kazakoff with whom she lived for 50 years. Her and Paul had many happy years of traveling and farming. They enjoyed the simple farm life and enjoyed visitors dropping in to see them.
She enjoyed many local functions in particular the National Doukhobor Heritage Day in Veregin. She was a member of the Doukhobor Prayer home and also enjoyed the Kamsack seniors centre. She was well into her 90's when she would catch the bus to Saskatoon to visit her niece and nephews.
Elsie was very knowledgeable about her surroundings and affairs of the world and was quite capable of voicing her opinion. As the years went on she realized it was time to move to Kamsack into an apartment, later to Eaglestone Lodge, then 4 weeks stay in Langenburg nursing home and then to the Kamsack and district nursing home. She was very happy to be back in Kamsack where she was with friends and relatives.
She was predeceased by her parents Maria and Wasyl, her husband Paul in 2002 and four brothers, Pete, Sam , Bill and Earl.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews: Marry Abrosimoff of Nelson B.C.,Lovette Nichovolodoff (Bill) of Castlegar B.C.Val Hamilton of Duncan B.C., Gladys Moore (Brent) Good Spirit Acres Sask., Cecil Trofimenkoff of Calgary Alta., Karen Popoff (Jack) of Kamsack Sask. Earl Trofimenkoff (Valarie) of Saskatoon, James Trofimenkoff (Cathy) of Lethbridge,Alta.,Virginia Bell ( Terry) Saskatoon Sask., and Kenton Trofimenkoff (Leslie-jo) Saskatoon Sask. She also leaves to mourn several great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews.
She passed away on April 16,2011 at the age of 98 years at the Kamsack and District Nursing Home. A memorial service was held on Thursday, May 5,2011 at 11.00 am from the Chapel of Andrychuk Funeral Home.
Interment followed at Riverview Cemetery in Kamsack.
