Elizabeth Popoff (Betsy)

1919 – 2010
Our Mom, Grandma, Great Baba and friend left us peacefully on Sept 3, 2010, at the Canora Hospital at the age of 90 years.
Elizabeth (Betsy) Rezansoff was born November 12, 1919 in Kamsack to Nicholi and Maria Rezansoff. Betsy received her education at McGillvary School. She grew up on the family farm and enjoyed many social gatherings with the "Stony Creek Gang". She lived in Kamsack all her life. During the war she worked at the Boeing Aircraft Co. in Vancouver, B.C. Upon returning to Kamsack she married Peter Popoff in 1944. She became a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. Eventually she took a job at the former Robinson store where she worked until her retirement in 1984.
She was active in her favorite volunteer pursuits, Hospital Auxiliary, Doukhobour Prayer Home, Horticultural Society and the walking club. She loved her garden, spending countless hours tending it.
Betsy was predeceased by her husband Peter, parents Nicholi and Maria Rezansoff. Brothers Nick, George, Alex, Bill and one sister Mary.
Surviving to cherish many fond memories is one brother Walter (Nellie) Rezansoff of Kamsack, One son Lawrence (Edwina) of Portage La Prairie, MB. Three grandchildren, Andrea, Carla and Jonathan and two great grand children Hanna and Sara Umpherville. As well as many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at the Kamsack Doukhobour Prayer Home on Sept 11, 2010 at 1.00 PM, with Cecelia Kazacoff presiding. Interment was held at the Riverview Cemetery in Kamsack.
Gifts of remembrance in Betsy's name may be made to the Kamsack Hospital Auxiliary.
