Gerald Straightnose Obituary

With tremendous sadness and sorrow to announce Gerald Ashel Straightnose Jr sudden passing in Kamsack on Thursday June 5 2025. Gerald was 61 years of age. He was born on March 18, 1964 to Seraphine and Gerald Alvin Straightnose Sr. He was born and raised on Keeseekoose First Nation. He attended the St. Philip's School he had a grade 10 education. Gerald was part of the Cote boxing club in the mid 70's where he won many titles in his short lived boxing career. He served his community as a band councillor for many years he never ever played a superior role, he helped everyone he can. He knew his role was to be a servant to his Keeseekoose band members. Gerald also made a huge impact in many young boy's lives showing them to cut wood, hunt, fish & provide meat to community and elders. He would cook for ceremonies he wasn't shy to bake bannock. His mom taught him well in that area. Gerald was one deadly cook.He helped building homes and did many renovations on and off the reserve. Gerald had a secret spot for berry picking with family and only a few were shown his secret spot. He would have movie nights with his nieces, nephews & grandchildren to create that special bonding with them. He had a great sense of humor and had nicknames for many family and friends. Gerald left a major imprint in our hearts that will last our lifetime.

Gerald Ashel Straightnose is survived by his loving Mom Seraphine Straightnose, Siblings Geraldine Cerrito, Janice (Gideon) Straightnose, Elsie (Glen) Keshane, Nellie (Brian) Straightnose Cindy (Terry) Shingoose, Calvin (Alvina) Straightnose, Delrous Johnson, Jolene Musqua, Melissa (Cliffy) Neubuhr and Thomas (Tyrae) Straightnose. His wife/friend Adele Straightnose his children: John (Tamiah) Straightnose, Dana (Ryan) Langan, Nadine (Ian), Cashtin Quewezance and Amazing Grace Straightnose. His children gave him 21 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. Numerous nieces, nephews, and extended relatives. He had a special bond with his Uncle Norman Whitehawk, and his Aunt Thelma Whitehawk, cousin Greg Kakakaway, Coco Linda (Pesky) Fiddler and Jimmy (Fid) Fiddler his cousin Marjorie Keshane. Plus too many family and friends to mention.

Gerald is predeceased by his Dad Alvin Gerald (Jerry) Straightnose, his sisters Priscilla & Sherri Straightnose, brother Steven Dean Straightnose, his beloved son Steven Martin Joseph Musqua, Neices: Chelsea, Priscilla, Patricia and Paige Straightnose. Nephew Alvin (Gargy) Walter Musqua. Grandparents Mabel and Delbert Whitehawk, Margaret and Joe Straightnose, his great grandparents Nellie and Roy Musqua. Plus many many other relatives.
