Gloria Kerluke Obituary

Gloria Kerluke of Kamsack, SK, passed away on November 7, 2025, at the age of 84 years. Gloria was a kind, loving and selfless lady who touched the lives of many people during her life. Her memory will live on in her children, grandchildren and the lives of all other family and friends who knew Gloria.

Gloria was born on September 2, 1941, at the Kamsack Union Hospital. She was the youngest of 5 children born to parents Annie Woloshyn and Joseph Hudye. Gloria grew up on a farm just east of Kamsack and had one sister and three brothers.

She attended all her schooling in Kamsack. Her dream was to become a nurse. That dream never happened because Gloria had to leave school and go to work after her father tragically passed away when she was in grade 9. Gloria moved into Kamsack and rented a room. She initially worked at the Kamsack Times before getting a job as a teller at the TD Bank. Gloria met the love of her life, Ed, while attending school at the Kamsack Collegiate Institute. They started dating in 1957 and married on October 6, 1962, at St. Josaphat’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Kamsack. Gloria and Ed spent 68 loving years together. After they were married, they moved to Edmonton to begin their life together. After a short time there Ed and Gloria returned to Kamsack where they settled and raised their family. Susan was born in 1967 and Kerri in 1972. Gloria worked full time as a teller at the TD Bank in Kamsack for many years. She had a caring nature and warm personality, in addition to a strong attention to detail which made Gloria excellent at her job. After Kerri started elementary school Gloria moved from full time to part time at the bank. In the latter 1980’s with Ed overseeing Broda Construction’s quarry crushing operations for the railways and the mines, Gloria left her job at the bank. Gloria, Susan and Kerri spent many weekends and summer vacations with Ed at job sites across BC, AB, SK, MB and ON. In the early 1990’s with both girls grown and out of the house Gloria began spending more time with Ed at the quarry crushing sites. A new career emerged for Gloria as she would often help by cooking, cleaning and heading to neighboring towns and cities for parts and supplies. Though Gloria worked hard and excelled in her outside careers her favorite role was that of being a mom. Gloria was a calm and caring mother and was always there to listen. During the mid 1970’s Gloria got her driver’s license. No more walking everywhere for her and her girls. Trips to the beach at Madge Lake became a favorite for them. Throughout their years at school Gloria attended every concert, interview and sporting event for her girls.

In the early 2000’s Gloria retired. During her retirement Gloria enjoyed spending more time with family and friends. She read more, was involved with the Ukrainian Catholic ladies’ league and thoroughly enjoyed her “Coffee ladies” group. Gloria also enjoyed sitting in the gazebo at the cabin at Madge Lake. Her yard always contained flowers. Gloria was a shopper so any opportunity to visit a city and stop by the mall was enjoyed by her. She especially enjoyed taking her grandchildren to the Dollar Store, and eventually SAS-KAM when they got older, so they could shop. Ed and Gloria spent many days on the road traveling to see their children and grandchildren in various activities and events.

Gloria is predeceased by Ed, her loving husband of 63 years, her parents; Joe and Annie Hudye, her step-father; Joe Gazdewich, her siblings; Vicky (Alex) Atchemichuk, Albert (Marie) Hudye, Gerald (Shirley) Hudye, and Laurence (Stephania) Hudye, as well as in-laws; John and Martha Prokopchuk, Cas Broda, Marlene Kerluke and Rudy (Lorraine) Barabash.

Gloria is survived by her daughters; Susan (Bruce Wenstrom) and Kerri (Rudy Haurserman), grandchildren; Natasha (Joel), Blake (Taryn), Brooke (Cole), Kelsey and Bryce, sister-in-law; Marie Broda, brothers-in-law; Arnold (Tracy) Kerluke and Dwayne (Trudie) Kerluke.

The family extends a special thanks to Eaglestone Lodge, for the care and support provided to Gloria over the past few months and the Regina General and Kamsack Union Hospitals for providing Gloria the exceptional care.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Gloria can be made to the Kamsack Union Hospital.
