Helen Legebokoff (nee Safonoff)

It is with great sadness that the family of Helen Legebokoff announce her passing at the Kamsack Hospital on February 13, 2011 at the age of 96 years.
Helen was born on March 4, 1914 in Veregin, SK.
A prayer service was held on Friday February 18,2011 from the chapel of Andrychuk Funeral Home, with a Funeral service being held on Saturday February19,2011, also from the chapel of Andrychuk Funeral Home. Officiant for these services was Velda Dahlin.
Interment followed at the Peaceful Cove Cemetery, East of Pelly.
Helen Legebokoff was born in Veregin Saskatchewan in 1914, to Fred and Tina Safonoff. The family moved to the Pelly District in 1920. She attended the Pines School, located by Fort Pelly.
She farmed with her parents until 1950, and after that she farmed on her own. She married Alex Legebokoff in 1966, and they farmed until Alex passed away. Helen then retired from farming, and moved into Pelly to look after her mother.
Although Helen didn't farm anymore, she loved to go for car rides and view all the grain fields, cattle and horses she could find. The livestock she later attended were her little poodle Tinquitte, and her little dog Danny Boy. Danny Boy now lives in British Columbia with her son John and daughter in law Leona.
Mom enjoyed playing bingo, and always looked forward to planting her garden in the spring.
In 2005, Mom's health started to fail her, and her Doctor said she would be better in a nursing home; because her legs were failing her, and she took to blacking out. Mom made the choice herself, and was happy and well cared for at the Kamsack and District nursing home. It was in her new home here, that she got to visit many of her friends, and make some news ones as well. Together they relived some wonderful memories.
Helen was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Tina Safonoff, husband Alex Legebokoff, brothers Fred and Nick Safonoff, and her grandson John Christian Safonoff, who passed away on December 13, 2010.
She is survived by her son John (Leona) Safonoff, Shannon (Craig) Jennings, her granddaughter Gaydene Safonoff, and great grandchildren Evan Jennings, and Savannah and Sierra Safonoff.
