Johnston, Mervin

It is with sadness that the family announce the passing of Mervin Johnston, age 87 years of Kamsack and formerly of Brandon, Manitoba, on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at the Kamsack Hospital.
Mervin was born on October 28, 1922 in Brandon, Manitoba to Arthur Walton and Esther Pearl Johnston. He received his education in Brandon.
For approximately 35 years, Mervin was employed by the CNR, traveling throughout the province and making numerous friends.
On October 28, 1954, Mervin married Dorothy (Dolly) Fedoruk.
Mervin was quite active within the community. He drove the Handi-Van in Kamsack, as well as volunteered regularly at bingos and various legion activities when needed.
His favourite pastime was watching hockey. He was very proud of the local boys that made it to the NHL. Mervin was also very proud of his children and grandchildren, and helped them out whenever he could.
He was loved by all of his family and friends, and will be sincerely missed but never forgotten.
Mervin was predeceased by his parents, as well as his brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Joy Johnston and a step-son, Tommy.
He leaves to cherish many fond memories his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Walton (Susan) of Stittsville, Ontario and Sheldon (Corrine) of Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan; two daughters, Marilyn of Ponoka, Alberta and Jacalyn of Ponoka, Alberta; eight grandchildren, Cory, Darrick, Dewy, Christina, Lindsay, Krisy, Tyler and Joshua; five great-grandchildren, Berlin, Carson, Clayton, Chance and Chantella.
