Lillian of Runnymede, SK passed away peacefully at the age of 101 years 8 months. She was born and raised in the area of Lipton, SK. The family relocated to the homestead at Veregin, SK when she was 18. This was a difficult time for the family. Lillian faced life challenges with grace. She resolved early in her life to always to be a lady, to look her best and do her best in the face of adversity. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her gentle nature, kind manner, strong work ethic and values enhanced her determined spirit, touching everyone who knew her.
Lillian was a private person. She was always proud of the life she built with her husband, raising their children, caring for their home and every animal that also became extended family- each named, all cared for deeply. Lillian had a strong passion for farm life. Following her marriage to Albert in 1945, they began farming north of Veregin. As the family grew, farming life was no longer sustainable. Albert began working for the CNR, moving his family into Kamsack. Eventually the family resettled in Runnymede and then the acreage where Albert and Lillian lived out their lives.
Lillian had a passion for her garden, her flowers (red geraniums and lady's slippers), birds (especially when hummingbirds returned in the spring). Winters were spent sewing and knitting, baking buns and her famous noodles for family visits. Never an idle hand. Her greatest pleasure on a summer's day was taking the time to appreciate the peaceful beauty of nature, relaxing on her garden swing.
Lillian will be lovingly remembered by her sister; Betty, her children; Ron (Debbie), Sandra (Brian), Sherry (Ralph), Donna (Tim), Colin (Barb), 12 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and her loving companion-cat Frisky.
Lillian is predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Albert, her parents; John and Amelia Seel, brothers; Johnny, Ernie, sister; Violet, daughter; Shelby, granddaughter; Kristin.
With increasing family support and the watchful eye of her neighbours, Mom lived on her own terms in her home until January 3, 2026.
We the family, are eternally grateful to Norman and Brenda MacDonald for their support to help mom to age in peace. We also wish to thank the caring hands of the Duck Mountain Ambulance, staff of the Kamsack Union Hospital and Canora Gateway Lodge, where Lillian passed away peacefully.
Cremation care is entrusted to Andrychuk Funeral Home, Kamsack, SK.
At Lillian's request there will be no funeral service. A private family gathering to honour mom will be held a later date.
