Mary Cazakoff (nee Yupatoff)
Mrs. Mary June Cazakoff, age 81, died peacefully at Lion's Housing in Preeceville, Saskatchewan, on Friday, October 21, 2011.
Born October 29, 1929 to Nellie and John Upatoff, in the Prairie Queen District, near Kamsack, Saskatchewan, Mary lived most of her life in Kamsack, Saskatchewan. In 1951 she married Fred G. Cazakoff. They made a home in Kamsack and worked side by side at farming until Fred's passing in 1985. Mary was a devoted wife and mother and worked tirelessly to care for her family. She excelled in many artistic hobbies, sewing, copper tooling, and cross-stitch to name a few, and was a wonderful cook and gardener. She and Fred built their dream home together, constructing and finishing it themselves. In what spare time she and Fred had they enjoyed their cottage at Madge Lake and numerous family and friends. They sadly lost their infant son Ronald David in 1961. In 1963 they welcomed a daughter, Janice Faye, in whom they took much joy. In 1983 Mary and Fred were sadly involved in a car crash, which was the beginning of a number of hardships. Soon after that, in 1985, Mary lost her beloved Fred and never quite recovered from the grief. Her health continued to decline from that point onward. In 1999 she required a quadruple bypass, which led to her eventual move to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Unfortunately her health declined to such an extent that she spent her last years at Lion's Housing Nursing Home in Preeceville, Sask.
Mary was predeceased by her parents, John and Nellie Upatoff, an infant son, Ronnie, and husband Fred. She is survived by her daughter Janice Cazakoff (Cal Havlicek) of Pictou NS, sister Frances Saliken (Bill), and niece Linda Saliken who reside in Regina.
Mary goes to her final rest Wednesday October 26, 2011, beside her husband Fred in Kamsack Riverview Cemetery.
