Mary Ellen Shingoose

Mary Ellen was born in Kamsack, Sk on February 25, 1979 to Norman and Patricia Shingoose. She was the sixth of nine children. Mary moved to Thompson, MB at a young age and that is where she grew up. Mary met Gurjit Sembhi (Sam) in Calgary, where they started their life and they had 4 beautiful children together. The two oldest children were born in Calgary and then they moved back to Yorkton, where they had the other two children. Mary, Sam and her children lived in Yorkton for the rest of her life. Mary loved her children and her grand babies more than anything.

Mary would talk about them all  every day, cherishing all of their memories. She was very proud of anything her grand babies were doing and was always bragging to someone about them .We can't forget to mention the love she had for her beloved late dog, Tommy. Mary took her care aid certificate here in Yorkton and worked at Yorkton & District Nursing home for many years. She then worked at the casino for a few years, Mary met her late wife Amber Trotchie in 2014 and they got married in 2018. They spent a few good years together, with many memories, especially of spoiling her grand babes. Mary loved when Amber would sing to her and found comfort in songs that she wrote. Mary loved visiting, playing bingo and cards. Growing up in Thompson , she spent a lot of her time chasing and being with all her siblings and her cousins Shannon, Joey and Robbie. Mary has a great spirit and everyone knew how outspoken she was. She loved hard and always was looking out for her family. Her favorite movie was Dirty Dancing and always wanted to be "Mrs. Patrick Swayze". We hope she gets to dance with him up there and drink unlimited ice caps. Mary had an impact on so many people's lives and was loved by many. She will be forever remembered and deeply missed.

Mary will be remembered by her partner; Gurjit Sembhi  (Sam), her children; Patricia Shingoose-Sembhi (Robin Britton), Raja Shingoose-Sembhi (Shay Papequash), Rani Shingoose-Sembhi (Emma Ledoux), Tiffany Shingoose-Sembhi (Shawn Berthelette), grandchildren; Kingston, Mason, Braeson, Priya, and a granddaughter on the way, brothers; Norman (Margaret) Straightnose, Christopher (Lavonne) Straightnose, Reginald (Sherry) Shingoose, sisters; Norma (Larry) Hanson, Michelle Shingoose, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary is predeceased by her grandparents; Robert and Mary Kerr, Harold and Jean (nee Pelly) Shingoose, parents; Norman and Patricia Shingoose, wife; Amber Trotchie, brothers; Harold (Mister) Straightnose, Francis Straightnose, Charles Shingoose, Aunty Margaret Palendat, her baby; Samantha Shingoose-Sembhi and numerous nieces and nephews.
