She left the Key First Nation when she was 16 years old and came back to her community in 1989. She lived and worked in Edmonton, Drayton Valley, Regina, The Key First Nation and Yorkton. She was always an advocate for women and education. She obtained her Driver’s License when she was in her 50’s; she also learned how to swim in 2010 so she could swim in the ocean in Jamaica; graduated from Grade 12 in 2015 and in 2019 received her diploma in Mental Health & Wellness. She worked at Project Safe Haven, a center for women fleeing domestic violence, for numerous years. She was also an EA at Christ the Teacher Catholic Schools. She encouraged her grandchildren to graduate and not wanting to be a hypocrite went back to get her grade 12 diploma at the age of 67. She gave her life to the Lord over 20 years ago and attended church on a regular basis. There wasn’t a family member or friend that didn’t receive her daily scriptures via text. A highlight of her education and servitude to the Lord, was a trip to Israel in 2011.
Muriel will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
