Murray Green

March 19, 1948 – November 23, 2012. Murray passed away at the age of 64 years after a 14 month long courageous battle with cancer with loved ones by his side. Murray was born in Kamsack Saskatchewan to Stan and Ann Green.Murray is survived by his wife and childhood sweetheart and soul mate, Judy (Woodward) of 44 years. Son Darcy and daughter Jamie. Murray is also survived by his only sister Gloria (Tom) Strilchuk. He was a special "Papa" to Jordan, Justin, James, and Reid Green and will always be remembered by his many nieces and nephews and many friends.
Murraywas predeceased by his son Kelly Green, parents Stan and Ann Green, and brother Wayne (Carol) Green.
Murray attended school in Kamsack. Loved hockey and baseball which he continued to play into his adult years. He started out his working career as a plumbers helper for Kamsack Plumbing and Heating. Murray and Judy were married in 1968 and moved toYorkton Saskatchewan where he worked as a plumber for ACE Plumbing and Heating. He then spent 6 years at INCO in Thompson Manitoba as a pipefitter. In 1978 Murray and family moved to Brandon Manitoba where he worked at Simplot Canada as a pipefitter for the next 29 years.
After his retirement in 2007, Murray and Judy moved back to Kamsack. He soon discovered retirement was not for him and got a job with the Town of Kamsack. True to form, he whistled off to work everyday with a smile on his face and ready to do whatever needed to be done. He was overwhelmed with the acceptance of his fellow town employees at his tender age of 61. He respected everyone he worked with and thought of them like family.
Murray was very disappointed when his health forced him to give up working and never looked at it as retirement but as taking a break. He loved small town life and was happy to reminisce with old friends on the post office step and just chatting with everyone on his route.Murray will be most remembered for his friendly smile and his quick wit and his fast feet on the dance floor.
His life was structured with always wanting to win the "big one" with his lottery tickets, and going to get the local newspaper, the mail and the flyers. He always loved his time at MadgeLake enjoying the nature and his long walks and time spent with family and friends.
A Funeral service was held at Andrychuk Funeral Home on Tuesday
November 27, 2012. With Stephen Ruten officiating
Interment followed at the Riverview Cemetery.
