Paul will be lovingly missed by his children, Teresa (Barry) Shabatoski, Rodney, Raymond (Kathy), Donna (Reg) Siwicki, David, Barry (Holly), Greg and Kevin; grandchildren, Darren Shabatoski, Colton Siwicki, Dee (Shawn) Nelson, Casey (Jinelle), Mitchell, Shinelle and Zachary Handzuik; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Kennedy Nelson and Everly Handzuik; sister-in-law, Sylvia Hornibrook.
He is predeceased by his wife, Tina in 2012; parents, Thomas and Pauline; sisters, Ann, Tillie, Nellie and Sylvia and brother, Walter.
Paul was born in August 1927 on the Handzuik homestead in the Beaver Plains district where he also attended school. In October 1955 he married Tina Ewanchuk and continued to live on and farm the homestead until his passing.
As with many of his generation, life on the farm was difficult as most tasks were performed manually, from clearing bush and making hay to harvesting crops. In spite of these challenges, Paul still found time to serve as a school board trustee and with his sons in 1974, installed and maintained telephone lines in his area.
Paul and Tina were also long time members of the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Arran where he assisted in looking after both the church and cemetery grounds.
A couple of additional highlights were the purchase of a new family home and in 2011 being recognized as a Century Family Farm. As Paul stepped back from farming a bit, he enjoyed helping with the garden, watching baseball, hockey and of all things…WWE Wrestling!!!
