Message to my daughter,  I only wanted the best for you. I love you so much my girl, my heart is broken.  I will miss your texts asking me how to make certain things.  You were so special to me and I always kept you close in my heart and in my thoughts and in my prayers. The last time you saw me you said “I love you” and you never told me that first. I will miss you forever.’’

Raquel was always a hard worker and when Raquel was a very young girl her dad taught her how to work with farm machinery, drive tractors, combines, and grain trucks. Raquel was ahead of her game and she would work at seeding and harvest time.  She would work on the farm keeping up with the men and even longer when she knew the work had to be done.  She would help anyone that asked for help and would feel proud when any grandparent would ask to her to help around the house or yard work  with cutting grass or cleaning up.

In November of 2011 she was blessed with her daughter Gracelyn.  She was proud that when she was coming out of the hospital with a brand new baby and her mom was going in to have a baby.  Her daughter Gracelyn and Tory are four days apart.

Raquel graduated from Keeseekoose Chiefs Education Centre in 2014.  In 2017 she worked as a server at Duck Mountain Provincial Park.  In 2018, she decided to further her education and enrolled as a student at Parkland College.  She excelled in her studies and she received certificates in the following areas:

“Serve It Right” certificate in Tourism. 2018,

“Food Safety Level 1”Certificate, March 2018,

 ”Money Matter” Certificate, May 2018,

“Service Best Customer Relations” April 2018

“Skills Link for Youth” June 2018

Raquel knew she wanted more and never gave up pursuing her studies and training.

She received all her tickets with WHMIS, Fall Protection Industrial and Food Handling.

Raquel worked at the York Lake Golf Club for one season as a Pro Shop Attendant in 2018. She also worked as a waitress at “The Whistle Stop” in 2018.

Raquel was a University student and enrolled at the First Nations University of Canada and enrolled to continue her studies with the Indigenous Education Program this fall.  She was working to obtain her Bachelor of Education Degree.

Her father Lee had some words that he would like to share.  “Raquel was a beautiful young woman and she lived life on her own terms, she was a tough kid and with all that she went through in life she was a fighter and yet she did not like fighting.  She was always my baby” spoken from her dad Lee.
