Stan was born on September 28, 1919 on a farm outside of Kamsack to Joseph and Nettie Tysowski.

The family moved to Winnipeg for several years before returning to their farm south of Veregin when he was 9 years old. After attending high school at St. Joe's in Yorkton, he took business classes and later joined the army at the start of World War II. He was a member of the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion and rose to the rank of sergeant.

He met and married an army gal, Helen Knopp, while they were both posted in Ontario. After the war they moved back to the farm, then to Kamsack, then to Nanaimo, BC before settling back in Kamsack.

Stan was very active in the Legion and loved to golf, curl, fish and play bridge. He loved spending time with his family and especially enjoyed visits from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Stan had a great appreciation for nature and wildlife and loved to spend time outdoors on the farm with his loyal friend, Bear.

Stan was predeceased by his parents, his younger brother Laurence and his loving wife of 66 years, Helen.

He will be lovingly remembered by his children: Stanley (Mary Jane), David (Cynthia), Daniel, Deborah (Reg) and Traci (Warren), his grandchildren: Joseph (Erin), Matthew, Peter, Nicola, Andrew, Alison, Cara, Devon, Lindsay and Erin and his great grandchildren Anna and Evelyn.
If friends so disire donations may be made in Stan’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
