Sylvia Lena Machushek

It is with great sorrow our family announces that mom (Lena) passed away on June 18, 2026 at the age of 92 years with the family by her side.

Lena was born to William and Ann Moskalyk (Kosmenko) in the Playmore District near Kamsack, Sk. 

Growing up on the farm with her sisters, they attended Doyle School and later got a job at a restaurant in Kamsack. attending country dances, she met Steve Machushek. Steve and Lena were married on May 28, 1950 at Boychuk's Church in the Dneiper District. They lived and worked the farm life from 1950 to 1989, taking pride in raising 7 children. During this time, Steve's father passed away. In time, his mother remarried , so Steve and Lena took over the Machushek Family Farm. Together Steve and Lena and their children worked hard to improve the land, yardsite and built a new home in 1974.

In 1978, Lena started working for home care as a nurses aide ,and continued when they retired from farming and moved to Kamsack. Sadly Steve passed away in 2009 after being married for 59 years. Lena's personal interests and hobbies were gardening, canning, baking, camping and took pride in keeping and maintaining a nice house, yard and garden. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting in the winter, doing puzzles, baking and making perogies. Lena enjoyed her circle of friends in Kamsack. She loved visits from her children and grandchildren. 

Once Lena's mobility and memory declined, she moved to the Yorkton Crossing in Yorkton for six months, then to the Kamsack District Nursing Home for 3 years. There she enjoyed bingo, helping with anything, special events, some activities, going out to visit and shop. 

Lena is predeceased by her parents; William and Ann, her husband; Steve, son; Ron, daughter-in-law; Tami, and son-in-law; Sam.

Lena leaves to mourn her passing, her sons; Michael, David, and Glen, daughters; Sherry (Shane) Lacusta, Loretta (Larry) Swidzinski, and Colleen (Alvin) Breitkrevz, as well as 19 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

Always in our hearts. Until we meet again.
