Thelma Jean Musqua age 82 passed away peacefully on Tuesday December 24. 2024 at Kamsack, Sask Nursing home. She was born January 1, 1942, in Russell, Manitoba to Scotty and Lucy Seaton and was raised on the Waywayseecappo First Nation by her parents and grandparents in a beautiful traditional upbringing. She was also raised in Midewiwin, also known as the Grand Medicine Society, in her early years.
Thelma leaves to cherish many fond memories; sons; Daniel Musqua Jr., Patrick Musqua, Wray (Amanda) Musqua, Warren ( Miranda) Musqua, Eugene (Carol) Tanner, Alvin (Freda) Musqua, Derrick Seaton, Ernie (Jolie) Seaton, daughters; Diane (Joe) Musqua, Pamela (Norman) Musqua, Bonnie (Curtis) Musqua, Delma (Wes) Seaton, Kim (Dwayne) Cloud, Joanne-Tanner Moar, Karen Tanner, Ina (Art) Tanner, Emma Seaton, Valerie Seaton, Lucy Seaton, Sandra (Mike) Tourangeau, Rita (Delmer) Quewezance, and over 42 grandchildren, and over 33 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Thelma also had many traditional adopted children and grandchildren across the country and province of Saskatchewan.
Thelma is predeceased by her husband Dr. Daniel Musqua, parents; Scotty and Lucy (McKay) Seaton, children; Shirley Musqua, Lynn Musqua, Colleen Musqua, Cynthia Musqua, sisters; Alma Tanner, Hilda Cloud, Gloria Seaton, brothers; Frank Seaton, Chesley Seaton, and Clifford Seaton.
The family would like to thank the many families and friends who came and sat with her over the last few years. Though she was slowly declining in her health she was still active on her casino outings and her mind was still very sharp. She lived a long beautiful traditional and Christian life that she passed onto her children through her stories and her teachings. This beautiful Anishinaabe Kwe Matriarch leaves a rich and beautiful legacy behind with all her children, grandchildren, friends and families to share.
Chi-meeguech Creator and our blessed Mother – we are comforted to know that our dad, sisters, brother, and all her relations are over there welcoming her home, now that her work on earth is done.
