Tony Napody

It is with great sadness that the family of Tony Napody announces his passing at the age of 84 years on January 17, 2011 at the Kamsack and District Nursing Home. Tony was born on May 29, 1926 in the Watson Creek District - Arran, SK.
Prayers for Tony were held on January 21,2011 from the chapel of Andrychuk Funeral Home, with a funeral service being held on January 22,2011 from St Josaphat's Ukrainian Catholic Church, with the Rev Fr .Basil Malowany officiating. Interment followed at the Riverview Cemetery in Kamsack.
Tony was born and raised in the Watson Creek district, and attended Watson Creek School, where he completed his grade 8. He then quit school, in order to help his parents on the family farm. He left the farm to seek employment in Winnipeg, and found a job working at a meat packing plant for a year. Tony returned to the farm in Watson Creek for a few years, and later moved the family to begin farming at St Philips. Tony continued farming until his retirement in 1978, when he moved to Yorkton. Tony enjoyed his retirement years by taking a tour of Ukraine, and visiting family there. He later took another trip to Florida. He also spent a lot of his time working for various farmers.
In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, and going out for coffee with his friends. He also enjoyed telling stories of his past, and astonished everyone with his ability to remember dates of family birthdays, anniversaries, and other special events, up until the last few months of his life.
Tony continued to live in Yorkton until 2006, when his health began to fail him. He then moved in to the Kamsack and District Nursing Home until his passing on Monday, January 17, 2011.
