It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tony Jasen Severight on February 22, 2025 in Cote First Nation, SK.
Tony is survived by his father Robert; Brothers Gary, Robert (Shelley), Jesse (Erica) Roy, and Ryan; Sisters Bobbie, Raeanne, Celia and Marquita; children Lance Juaquin, Tehya, and Seqouia; Grandchildren Jordan and Taryn; numerous nieces, and nephews; and other extended family.
Tony is predeceased by his maternal and paternal grandparents Roy and Doris Severight, Robert Flores Sr. and Francis Lara; His mother Elrose Severight; infant brother Justin Severight; Uncles Robert James Severight, Tommy Severight, Louis Severight, Paul Severight; Aunties Leona Cote, Rosaline Stevenson, and Mabel Whitehawk.
Tony was born in Kamloops, BC and was raised in cities all over western Canada, such as Calgary, Vancouver, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Regina. He also lived in Seattle, Washington, and Tule River Reservation, California. During the 1990's the family moved home to Cote First Nation where Tony found his love for the outdoors and hunting. Taught by his father and uncles, Tony knew how to survive on the land. He was shown how to hunt properly and how to clean and skin his animals. Tony took great pride feeding his family and community. He was one of the best hunters of his generation, teaching his sons and nephews how to hunt as well. Tony was a hard worker, working many jobs. He enjoyed dry walling and teaching his sons and nephews how to drywall in Calgary, AB and Regina, SK. Tony was also a generous and thoughtful person with a heart of gold who loved his parents, siblings (whom he was very protective of), children, grandchildren, uncles, aunties, cousins, and Tony will be immensely missed and forever remain in our hearts and memories.
