Victoria Achtemichuk (nee Hudye)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Victoria Achtemichuk, age 80, on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at Kamsack Nursing Home, Kamsack, Saskatchewan.
Vicky was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Alex (2008), son Robert (1995), parents Joe and Anne Hudye, two brothers, Gerald and Albert Hudye, and great-grandchild Avery Todoschuk.
Left to cherish her memory are daughter Shirley (Richard) Todoschuk, sister Gloria (Ed) Kerluke, brother Lawrence (Stephania) Hudye, and sister-in-law Marie Hudye. She is also survived by daughter-in-law Rose Achtemichuk, four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Vicky was born on March 28, 1930 in the Kamsack area. She was married to Alex Achtemichuk on October 25, 1947. They lived in the Stornaway district where they farmed and began their family. Vicky took great pride in her flower's and plants, and loved to collect stamps, spoons, and salt and pepper shakers (collected over 2000 pairs!). She enjoyed doing ceramics, and always had a camera nearby to capture pictures of anything of interest. Vicky was also proud to be a member of the Red Cross.
Family was always very important to Vicky. She loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren, and loved having family and friends over to visit. Taking special day trips with Alex, to visit with family and friends, or just to view the countryside, were always being planned and were greatly enjoyed. Vicky was an impressive cook, and it was always guaranteed that her wonderful Ukrainian dishes would be served over the holidays!
Our family would like to thank the staff at the Kamsack Nursing Home for their care and compassion. It is greatly appreciated.
A celebration of Victoria's life was held on Thursday, January 20, 2011, at Andrychuk Funeral Home at 10 am. Prayers were held Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at 7pm, at Andrychuk Funeral Home. Interment followed at the Riverview Cemetery in Kamsack.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Victoria can be made to the Kamsack Nursing Home, or to the charity of your choice.
