Wayne Sokoloski Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wayne Raymond Sokoloski on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at the age of 73 years.

A Funeral Mass was held on Monday November 26  from St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church in Kamsack.

Internment followed at Riverview  Cemetery.

Wayne was born September 14, 1945 in Kamsack Saskatchewan to William (Bill) and Lena Sokoloski.  He is predeceased by his parents, brother Eugene and sister Darlene.

Wayne attended school in Kamsack, graduating from the KCI.  He attended the University of Saskatchewan, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Education Degree.

He enjoyed an extensive career in education, teaching Physics, Chemistry and Biology in Kamsack, Govan, Prince Albert, Norquay and Cote First Nation.  Throughout his career he was involved in coaching Football, Basketball and Curling.

Wayne was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer, curler and bridge player.  He spent many hours tracking big game and laying in the duck blinds waiting for an  opportunity to shoot.  He enjoyed annual fishing trips to Wallaston Lake, the “North, South” Fishing Derby with friends at Madge Lake.  He also enjoyed deep sea fishing as well as and Salmon and Halibut fishing in BC.

He won many bonspiels over the years, and was fortunate enough to get an 8 ender.  He was a member of the Madge Lake Golf Resort. He played in a of number tournaments and was particularly fond of the Annual Teachers golf tournament.  He  was a Golden Duck event winner and proudly displayed the trophy at his house at Madge Lake.

Sox was a hard core Rider Fan, after every regular season win he would call to say “we are going to the Grey Cup.”  Getting together on game day was something Wayne looked forward to.  It was an annual tradition to go to his place for wings on Grey Cup and Superbowl Sunday.

After he retired from Teaching in Prince Albert Wayne returned to the family cabin at Madge Lake where he lived until the time of his passing.  Wayne was the God Father to Joseph Tysowski, and was considered an Uncle to Joseph, Mathew and Peter Tysowski, Tommy and Elodie Jordens.  Wayne will be terribly missed by his cousin Wilbert Filipchuk and family as well as all his close friends who knew him. We will particularly miss his daily drive by and visits.

If friend's so desire donation's in Wayne's memory may be made to the Kamsack Hospital Auxiliary.
