Wellesley Brass Obituary

Wellesley Miles Brass better known by Wuzzy, born January 20th 1971 at Norquay, SK to Phyllis Bourassa (nee Brass) and Peter Tourangeau. Wuzzy’s early childhood was living "Across the River" on the Cote First Nation with his younger sisters Jackie, Sharon and baby Laureena.

In the fall of 1976 they lost their dad Peter and moved to Sturgis, where he attended school. Almost every weekend their Grandpa and Grandma would go and visit the kids and bring them back for the weekends. Later on Wuzzy came to live with his grandparents.

Wuzzy had the love of adventure, riding horses, helping out on the farm and learning to hunt and fish from Grandpa Chipierre. When hunting ducks with Grandpa, Wuzzy would load up the boat just to push Grandpa Chipierre around in the water, outside of the boat. On weekends Wuzzy would be attending bush racing with his uncles and Grandpa. They would always attend Sturgis’s July 1st Rodeo.

Wuzzy loved sports, summer time he’d play ball with his friend Maney Cote one of his best friends in life. In the winter time it was hockey. He played for a lot of teams but his favorite team was the White Sand River Rats where he played goalie. He loved Ozzy Osbourne and AC-DC always singing along with his cassette tapes. He had a love of Horror movies too and always had a comment “that’s phony”. Wuzzy had lots of friends but there was just a handful he always hung out with, Sam Langan, Maney Cote and Daryl Cote. They were the Good The Bad and the Ugly. Grandma Elizabeth always got after them because she could only imagine the things they got into.

Wuzzy had many odd jobs over the years but finally settled with Anton/Lockert Construction, for 9 Years.

March 2012 Wuzzy’s world was turned upside down with the accident. He had to learn a different way to live. It was tough and there were times it broke him but he always pushed through. He resided at the Wascana Centre and made good friends with staff and residents. There was one nurse, Heather Nielsen, he always teased her. He enjoyed the staff on Main floor and 2nd floor.

While at the Wascana he made friends with a couple of residents Christian Shaw and Calvin Bird. They helped Wuzzy light his cigarettes and hold it for him. Or just to watch a movie with him. If you couldn’t find him in his room he was outside with them. Steven Desnomie was another good friend that helped out a lot whether it was small or large. He drove Wuzzy on outings and would visit when called upon.

The greatest joys of Wellesley’s life were his children. He encouraged them and loved them unconditionally. He worked hard to see his children reach the milestones to be successful in life.
